Ket-Oreos! (Low-Carb Oreos)

Every once and a while I get a craving for super-processed-magically-delicious Oreos. Yeah, I know…they are absolutely terrible. Maybe it’s just childhood nostalgia. Yeah, let’s go with that.

I decided to make a healthier, low-carb version!

These are pretty simple to make! Basically, it’s a chocolate shortbread cookie filled with cream cheese icing! They really kill a sweet tooth and go great with coffee or a nice glass of flax milk!

The ENTIRE batch had about 34 net carbs. So the individual cookies are less than 1 net carb each!

Keto Oreos

  • Servings: 30-40 Cookie Sandwiches
  • Print

Cream Filling

  • 4 oz. cream cheese – softened
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered Swerve (you can grind granulated Swerve in a spice grinder)
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl mix together the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the Swerve and butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add egg and vanilla, mix until fully combined.
  5. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  6. Roll out dough between two sheets of waxed paper to a rectangle about 1/8 of an inch thick. Using a circle cutter, cut out as many cookies as you can. Place them onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Re-roll out cookie dough until you run out!
  7. Bake cookies for 12 minutes. Let cool completely before filling.

To make filling:

  1. Using a food processor, cream together cream cheese, and butter.
  2. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually mix in powdered Swerve.

  1. Could I substitute 1/2 cup Stevia for the Swerve? I like the ingredients in Stevia better than in Swerve.

  2. Is the xanthan absolutely necessary? I would love to make these, but I’ve never used it, and would rather just do without 😛 is it possible?

  3. I just made these and they are fanglorious. The texture of the cookie is perfect and the cream….mmmm. Thanks for the recipe. Obvious skill went into it 😉
I’m hoping to make your gnocci soon.

  4. …anndd THANK YOU for not making a complicated million step recipe with hard to find ingredients. I’ve seen some other LC “oreo” recipes and they are too much work.

  15. Just made these tonight! So yummy. But i halved the recipe and (stupid question but I’m not a baker…) want to know what the cookie texture would be like if I didn’t half the egg… which I might have meticulously done…

  16. Does anyone have a recommendation or a conversion for using stevia? or xylitol? I want to make these SO bad…but I don’t want to buy a bag of swerve just for this when I already have stevia and xylitol. Thanks! 🙂

  17. Please list the carb counts when posting low card foods. You can say low carb, but to some, 20 carbs per item is low. I only eat 40 carbs a day so a treat has to be very low carb.

  22. I am looking forward to trying this, my Dad LOVES oreos-they are his main downfall and as a diabetic, he can’t do the package of oreos every couple days anymore. About how many cookies (as a sandwich or individual circles) did it make?

  28. Wow I have to try these!
Do you have any recipe for a cookie more like the vanilla one in the golden oreos (honestly the one treat I truly mourn since going keto)?
