Purely Pops: A Summer Staple

Recently, I was sent a copy of my friend Leanne Vogel’s e-cookbook “Purely Pops”. Leanne is a holistic nutritionist and runs a wonderful blog called Healthful Pursuit chock-full of amazing healthy recipes to live vibrantly.

In the sweltering summer heat, ain’t nothing like a popsicle to cool you down.

I have yet to meet a popsicle I didn’t like. Refreshing as they are, most of the icy treats on the market are loaded with sugar and dyes that can leave your lips a Cookie Monster blue. Not to mention, an average box can cost over on buck per — I can’t help it — pop.

These 45 incredible homemade recipes will put your neighborhood ice cream truck to shame. You’re in control of the ingredients, which means you can adjust the sugar count to your liking. With a few tools and a serving of patience for your mix to solidify in the freezer, you’re on your way to homemade popsicle heaven. Sorry (kind of) to put you out, ice cream man.

All the recipes are vegan, gluten-free & paleo and absolutely delicious!

So after a long debate on the first recipe I wanted to try, I finally decided on the Orange Tea Ice Pops. The farmers market had some great Italian oranges and I have a secret stash of Chinese Long Jing green tea, yum!

chinese-green-teaI have always been a sucker for cookbooks with LOTS of pictures, and every recipe in this book includes a gorgeous photo to accompany it! With flavor profiles like Black Forest, Cookie Dough, Rum Raisin, Cafe Caramel, Mango-Chilie  & Basil Limeade there is something for whole family!
